I have literally been listening to Bruce Springsteen since before I was born. My dad played his music for me when my mum was pregnant. I distinctly remember asking to listen to his music as lullabies when I was a toddler. He might be writing about New Jersey but his music is still universal.

this man is justly called the boss! been a fan since i was 7,thats 30 years of great music and not giving in or giving up to the big money ,he still dares to chalenge the system! and on july 13 i'm gonna see him live for the first time! that will be the single greatest concert of my life,i'm sure! and i've seen hundreds of concerts! the boss rules!

I can't escape that this is the most insightful song that Springsteen has released in ages. Other songs are inspirational and hopeful while this one is pragmatic and serves as a warning.

Springsteen is putting a line in the sand saying that the lower and middle class have the background and the strength to fight after being marginalized for so long.
