I know i said i would be doing distro reviews of linux, but this had to be done! Although OpenSolaris is NOT linux, i still think with a large enough developer base and community, this OS would have thrived. Oracle are real idiots! First suing Google over Java patents in Android, now cancelling a very large opensource project.

  • @Septagotius You can do that, or you can see if you can get the driver only (without the installer)

  • @lindsaymobil22 Alright, so i'll probably have to extract the driver from windows disassemble the installer, right?

  • @Septagotius It should if you have the proper .inf driver from windows, after all, ndiswrapper is just a wrapper to make the driver function under linux

  • @lindsaymobil22 Doesn't ndiswrapper not support wusb adapters?

  • @Septagotius What about using ndiswrapper and using a windows driver with that?

  • @lindsaymobil22 it worked in Ubuntu 9.04

Then nothing else, not even with the non-free drivers

  • @Septagotius Is it not supported by Linux or BSD?

  • I'd drop my freakin Wintendoes if I could get my wireless adapter working on it, but no OS besides XP supports it

  • Fuck you, Oracle.

  • @TheFatdemon3 That is because it is using the GNOME Desktop Enviroment, many Linux Distros, BSD variants and many other unix-like OS's can use GNOME. But i can assure you OpenSolaris is totally different, for a start, it's not even Linux!
