Metroid Fusion - Why won't SA-X die?

Used some gamesharks and tried to kill SA-X during the first encounter... ...but failed. It seems that SA-X becomes weaker and weaker during the game.

... (for confused people) 1. its not programmed to die there till the end. 2. the X copies the DNA of Samus... not the suit at first later on in the game it multiplies with suit. 3. you NEED the plasma beam to hurt it.
