Near Niles, CA is Niles Junction where Oakland, Niles, and Warm Springs Subdivisions converge. I caught 2 freights and 2 Amtraks on a nice Spring day.

Now that NUUMI is closed I guess that we won't be seeing anymore auto trains for awhile??????????

@mpsicily: AGBMI, the train shown in the video, still runs. There's a loading/unloading facility in Milpitas that's still being used.

Where precisely is Niles Junction?

@SSCexpert: It's on the eastern edge of Fremont, along Mission Blvd. Look for the junction of Highways 238 and 84.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but is that the place where the old SP and WP lines crossed?

I believe you would be correct. The WP lines had another wye further east, toward Niles Canyon, but the tracks have been pulled, I think.
