The Russian Airborne Troops or VDV (from "Vozdushno-Desantnye Vojska",) is an arm of service of the Armed forces of the Russian Federation, on a par with the Strategic Rocket Forces and the Russian Space Forces. First formed before World War II, the force undertook two significant airborne operations and a number of smaller jumps during the war and after 1945 for many years was the largest airborne force in the world.[

  • This is what Europe and America fear most during the cold war days..

  • The only newer US transport plane is C-17 Globemaster, and it's from the 90's. C-5 Galaxy is old as IL-76. The major part of the air transport fleet is consisting of the very old and venerable C-130 Hercules that is more than 60 years old.

Age has nothing to do with usefulness and reliability if the machines are properly maintained.

  • Newsreel of 1970, Il-76 and now the good reliable and modernized plane which can fly up from unprepared soil runways. As in it(this) video are shown the Soviet parachuters jumping with parachutes D-6, this also reliable parachute system....

  • @ginhater1 yeah, Plus it makes them look more Badass than the USAF by the way they are deployed :D!!!!!

  • Heh, I love horror music in video which features Russians.

  • @WALancer

This video is from the 1970's. Back then the Soviet Unions military was 3 times larger than the US. The soviet technology was as good if not better than the American stuff. The Soviet Ground forces were the first to use an unexposed gunner on a APC. The US caught up with that in the 1980's. 20 years after the Russians made it.

  • @aurora2k lol, no. these vehicles are pieces of shit.

  • @ginhater1 right. Military equipment was simple for in case of American invasion everyone from a kid to oldman could use it against invaders. Now Russian military suck, they can't even find locations without GPS.

  • As always Jaglavaksoldiers uploads awesome videos. Good job man, please keep

    uploading new vids for us.

  • Слава ВДВ!

  • Impressive equipment those Russian's have. They would have put up a formidable fight up if the cold war had kicked off. One thing I have noticed about Russians is the simplicity of their equipment and the harshness of their training, they look hard as fuck.

  • k so im really stupid so i gotta ask this. how many men can be fitted in this plane? and how many IFV's or whatever can be fitted in WITH the men and how many men whould be there if there were armored vehicles in said plane? strange question i know but again im not the brightest light bulb
