  • @sophiemaggie1 I just want to point out that in general, athleticism and skill in competition does not necessarily equate to better teaching. I'm not correcting you or disagreeing; I don't know the black belts you described. I'm just making an observation. Someone who's a top-level competitor may not really know how to teach effectively, while someone who has a lot of knowledge and knows how to teach may just not be successful in high-level competition.

  • @kanguesso yeah thats not what I was thinking. My first bjj school had a guy who was a Gracie Black belt but was not athletic at ALL. Still he knew all the moves and how to teach because he put in the time and work to learn all the things a black belt should know. Now I have a 2nd degree black belt who is athletic and fought more than 15 times in the cage. Who's better? The athletic teacher just because he knows how to get you in shape and knows what works 99.99% of the time.

  • @sophiemaggie1 Well, if that's what you meant by "Real BJJ black belts" then that's unfortunate that people would go out and by BJJ book and award themselves black belts. I have rolled with some subpar black belts before and they were only subpar because they do not consistently compete with other high level black belts in say, tournaments or other schools but nothing to the level that you have experienced though.

  • @kanguesso dont know about where you are at but where I live I've met 3 bjj black belts. two I destroyed and other one said I need to work on some basics before he would give a blue belt. truth is I am a low blue belt. the two I beat bought a bunch of books took some classes and bought a black belt, the other is a Rigan Machado 2nd black belt. point is a lot of people talk shit and others you roll with them and realize why it takes 10+ years to get to their level.

  • @sophiemaggie1 Community of "Real BJJ black belts"?

  • I like how the community of real BJJ black belts is small because they know each other and when they come to your school they bring their own game. Even though they have different concepts I bet they teach their students both ways.

  • Boa galera,

Vcs deveriam fazer mais videos como este, mostrando a variedade e pensamentos de cada um.

    Dois grandes lutadores.

    Oss

  • Nice details.

  • Awesome! The these two should do a DVD series showing how each of them play their own unique games in certain situations. Just like they did in this video. Breaking each other's games down, etc. It would be killer. Please do more vids like this!
