When I experienced ayahuasca, we were well prepared by our shaman, meaning, for one thing, we were asked to keep "noble silence" (which everyone did) and I think had I heard these people screaming like this - surely it would intefere with my journey. We were also advised not to lay down as this can intensify an already horrifically intense experience to begin with and I see the one woman lying on her back. My experience was powerful; the integration process afterward (for me) is still going

Fair enough, but I think you are insinuating that these participants weren't prepared properly for ceremony by these shamans which just isn't the case. I think it's fair to say that different shamans run their mesas differently, this one being presided over by one of the most powerful shamans in the amazonian basin, with over 33 years experience.

And being that I have been in over 60 ceremonies with these shamans(2 shamans perform the ceremonies), their response would be that if you couldn't handle others screams, etc. that that is your issue, and something you have to deal with, not theirs, that is something that is part of your journey.

Ayahuasca is a plant based medicine, the main ingredients being the Ayahuasca vine and Chacruna leaves. Depending on the shamans making it, there are also several different various barks added for their visual and spiritual properties.

Also, I agree with suzbat in no matter what the content of your journey, it all boils down to LOVE - no matter which way you slice it .... It's LOVE.

At the beginning of my first ceremony with these Shamans - the young man next to me started screaming intensely. A bit unnerving at first - but I felt that the 'openess' of it being taken as normal that there was a free environment to express openly was very helpful in the release of energies.

@djapana2000 - I used to think like that... I really got hung up on all the shamans, going to Peru etc. Actually its perfectly safe to do providing you do a good dieta, learn how to meditate (and have a practice going) and perhaps do it with likeminded others before drinking alone.  Plus its a lot cheaper. That curranderos are good but you can do so much of it on your own with meditation... my first time without a currandero and I had my own icaro. The plants teach everything.

taking ayahuasca without the guidance of an experienced shaman would be inadvisable. Some journeys are best done in the company of experience travellers. You wouldn't pack your little lunchbox and set off alone to climb mount everest, and you shouldn't pack your lunchbox and take ayahuasca alone either. save money, travel there and do it right. If it is for the benefit of self discovery, the money you have or need is not really an issue. If it is meant for you, it will happen...

soo... I've never been on an ayahusca trip before.. in my country thers none.. but I just found some.. I dont know any shamans at all.. but next week I'll be experiencing it by myself alone camping on a mountain..

i cant get a shaman here.. so besides that.. any recomendations??
