Linear games sucks because you will likely miss important items on the way and it will be too late to realize that when you progress in the game and there's no way to get them.

i like to buy my stuff from a shopkeeper, get side quest from people in towns. They all have their own little story. Having mini games is a plus also. Traveling freely and doing things in the order that you like. Exploring, finding new donjons. This game is nothing the old FF. Only thing better is the graphics.

@PsychoKrazyTime Open world (like in a world map) maybe yes, but towns?? No... it's just extra immersive if you can visit towns, relax, walk around and talk to the people. God I miss the FF9 days. :(

@haggiss For some people the linear aspects of the game can be a bit refreshing. It also adds a bit more to the situation at hand; to the people in Sanctum, these people were all cursed fugitives to be avoided at all costs - it makes little sense for them to visit towns when there is no meaning to it. Now while I love open world games, XIII makes good use of it's linearity to tell a good story without bullshitting. 'sides, all FF games are pretty much linear.

@PsychoKrazyTime im glad you finally agree with me

@haggiss Alright, fuck you then. I'm not responding to your stupid comments you troll. Get over yourself, loser.
Whao! You can actually fight those big monsters? I thought they were just there for decorations. lol

People are blowing this whole too linear thing way out of proportion. Sure, it is a flaw, but it's not like it ruins the whole game. It just means that there's less wasted space because in the other games, you have no reason to revisit a dungeon or town once you've been through it. If anything, I find huge open worlds to be unnecessary.
