i wholeheartedly accept the new transits go well, much batter than they used to.
personally i prefer the drive of the current merc sprinter (315cdi LWB-HT), and from memory of the clocks the sprinter seems to accelerate slightly faster too. but at the end of the day it's down to the individual over the choice of van....

We had a entry level 'Y' reg 2001 transit 90 LWB High Roof (the first of the New Generation) That would do a max of 90mph on the flat & 95mph downhill. Also had a '51' plate 2001 Transit 100 LWB Semi High Roof, that would do 107mph on the flat. The old 'Y' reg was a brilliant van, not a single problem and kept it till 2008. The '51' plate was a dud lots of problems with that. We got rid of that in 2005 and got a Transit Jumbo 350 '55' plate. That does 113mph on the flat.

thats pretty good i just about got 90mph out of an 85tdci swb it was quick though 40-60 but it needs 6 gears its working hard if you go past 80
