I think those that voted for manchester voted for oz after uk got voted knocked out and if im not misaken that favour was remembered for london 2012!!!

yeah! agree! he clearly said Sydney, NOT syd-en-ey i think some comedian tried to imitate this accent and it caught on through aussie media.
