Slideshow of the Badlands, canyon-like rock formations near Drumheller, Alberta, Canada.

I've also included 3 dinosaur pictures, shot at the Drumheller Dinosaur-Museum (Royal Tyrrell-Museum) - the pictures, not the dinosaurs ;)

Drumheller and its surrounding area is well-known for some of the most outstanding findings of dinosaur skeletons. Scientists from all over the world visit Drumheller to dig for some more of these old bones... :)

The hoodoos at the end of the video are also part of the Badlands.

Music: Deora ar mo chroi (Enya) - I thought these kind of tunes suit the Badlands (and the dinosaurs) just right... don't ask me why :)

  • at 50seconds what part of the valley is that? eastern western???????......

  • western (west of the river)

  • Well done video and the music is so appropriate...reverential as all of Enya's work is. I just adore her.

Your badlands look similar to ours in the U.S. with the notable difference being that it appears less desertlike there in Alberta with more greenery and water nearby. I hope to get there one day. Thanks!

  • Thank you, I love Enya's music, too...

  • I think the song choice was perfect too because to me it feels like the song is about the end of one impressive journey. A journey taken by these once great and magnificent creatures to this there "final resting place."

  • What a special place, I smoke a doob there once , what a experience. I love this country.

  • Hi Lollealias, great video, it is no wonder the Canadian badlands are home to Dinosaur fossils, it looks like a landscape from a prehistoric age! You should consider submitting this, and any other relevant videos, to the Canada’s Got Treasures collection by joining our YouTube group (/group/TresorTreasure). It would be made available on our channel and website. Help celebrate Canadian diversity!

  • so are the badlands bigger then calgary

  • Anyone know how can i get to Dinosaur Provincial Park from calgary without having to pay for a tour bus service ? (i don't drive)

I'd like an excursion by myself for 3 or 4 days to pitch a tent and enjoy the scenery...a perfect escape!

I just know there are daily Greyhound trips to nearby Brooks.

...maybe a shuttle service from Brooks to DPP ?

  • Wonderful. Thanks for posting this. Damn I love this country.

  • this is a video that is very touching, it makes me appreciate life more. picturing dinosaurs on that land makes me wish i could see it so bad! lol great video thanks

  • It all the in the history of the badlands. The valley was created by the movement of glaciers, and therefore most of the land was carved down to the different layers of rock and sediments from millions of years ago. The grassy parts would be from the earlier layers.
