Future

Since I started this campaign 20 short months ago, I have consistently talked about security; security for our families from terrorism and economic security for our children. 'Future' reminds voters the American economy is the strongest in the world and getting stronger. We still have work to do, but we're moving in the right direction.

The creation of 6 million new jobs didn't happen by accident. It happened because we showed leadership and took action. We lowered taxes on families, on small businesses, on people who take risks and create jobs. We ended the marriage penalty, cut the death tax, and we doubled the per child tax credit.

My opponent and I have a fundamental disagreement on taxes. She has proposed a $1.54 trillion dollar tax increase - three times larger than the biggest tax increase our country has ever seen. Her proposal would kill Minnesota jobs and hurt families.

As the author of the line-item veto, I'll work to control wasteful government spending in the Senate so we can keep taxes low and keep growing jobs.
