An original piece called "Straight Up" performed by Stanford's Swingtime Dance Troupe at the January Jammix of 2006. This modern swing choreography created by Meg Kale (with help from brother Dave Kale) and debuted by Swingtime in 2005 was an ambitious effort to integrate lindy hop and swing jazz with modern jazz, formations, aerials, and solos. This is our "Black and White" costume set: bowling shirts with khaki pants for leads, white tank tops and black twirling skirts for follows. The music is a slowed version of "Straight Up" by the Brian Setzer Orchestra. The Swing Cats Rhythm Revue also performed a piece called "Straight Up" choreographed by Meg and Dave. Although the music is the same and the styles and structure are similar, the choreographies are distinct. The Swing Cats version is in some ways inspired by the Swingtime version.
