  • I thought the MWP was going to be busted in this video. Instead we are shown cherry-picked data by Michael Mann who used computer code to make the hockey stick rather than the raw data itself. Tree ring proxy data is unreliable too many other factors affect tree ring growth other than temp. I'm underwhelmed...

  • @nlpjohn

‘Tree ring proxy data is unreliable too many other factors affect tree ring growth other than temp’ so where does the record come from for the so called MWP? It wouldn’t be tree rings would it? Anyhow

‘but none suggest that it has been warmer at any time in the past 1000 years than in the last part of the 20th century’

    w w w .newscientist. c o m /article/dn11646-climate-myths-the-hockey-stick-graph-has-been-proven-wrong.html

  • @blackadderthe4 A list of "peer reviewed" sources for temp proxy studies showing a MWP can be found at co2science/org. And the preponderance of data shows the MWP to be much warmer than today. As for the hockey stick, it has been discredited many times for cherry picking data and using computer code. Only "deniers" think the hockey stick graph is valid...

  • @nlpjohn

Well we know how trustworthy co2science is don't we! 'think the hockey stick graph is valid...' that's because it is! There have been many inquires and it has been acknowledged as been true!

I'm not worried by climate change! I'll be dead by the time the major effects happen! Hopefully, but at the current increase in GHG that may be a bit optimistic! Anyhow the next generation will not be so lucky!

  • @blackadderthe4 Re: "No doubt man will be extinct by then"

Yes, our chance of survival is slim. But that has nothing to do with the fact that glaciers have been on the retreat since about 1800 or so which is long before the first SUV. If you are worried about our survival I'd suggest you start freaking out about politics and economics and stop worrying about the climate.

  • @Frumibandersnatch

Yes that's right! They are retreating all over the world from the Arctic, Greenland, Himalayas,, Ecuador. Will we see them again when they have gone! Because it will take thousands of years and mankind will no doubt be extinct by then!

  • @blackadderthe4 Oh yes and of course glaciers are retreating, they’ve been doing so since the end of the Little Ice Age. Hard to say when they’ll start advancing again.

  • one thumbs up for the "Gold standard for scientific assessment" part, otherwise I never would have known. So what is the new science that is serving us so well in the modern reconstructions? Is truncating the proxy data at that point if divergence the new science? Did they not know how to do that back in the day?

  • @blackadderthe4 CO2 science did not create those studies. They were performed by independent scientists and published in GEOLOGY.

IF YOU HAD READ THE LINKS - as any normal person would have, you would know this.

You are a compleat ignoramus. At least you are consistent in clinging to ignorance when the facts are right in front of your nose.
