This scene completely blew me away. It may be the best close up I've ever seen.

This is how acting should be: The actors moving the audience, not the camera moving in action.

Nicole was robbed of an Oscar nomination for this performance (and also Margot at the Wedding).

I had the same reaction when I saw it.

She plays a pedophile in this movie and the directors are pedophiles. Anyone notice?

Nicole is really ugly and a mediocre actress at best

I think the only comparable closeup sequence would be that of joan Crawford in "humoresque", oddly enough where shes also sat in an opera house.

Top acting ! We made a song "Thinking Of You" which lyrics go well with this close-up. You can find it here on YouTube if you search for "Blame Bob - Thinking of You + Sugar Daddy"

I am so happy I found this. I saw a set of film captures, one on top of the other, featuring the captioned dialogue: "Does that feel good?" "Yes". It was uncredited, but I just HAPPENED to recognize Nicole Kidman after STARING at the still photo.

Well.... the camera is on a massive technocrane probably and it does a fantastic job of heightening and setting up the emotion and the tension of the held close-up... so I think you are missing something to the equation. Also there is a very careful and fast dimming of lighting down and up that is basically invisible to achieve the shot too.
