In the "suicide room," just after almost everyone left, the window next to us suddenly slammed shut seemingly on it's own. We considered the falling temperatures to possibly have contracted the wood frame, making the window fall but after pushing the window back up and then trying to gently pull downward on it, the window did not want to easily fall. This is when I noticed at least half of the indicator lights on my homemade ESD were dark, indicating a strong electrostatic field. Moving the device away from the window made all the lights come back on. It seems as if there was an invisible bubble around the window area.

  • It's possible your detecting a weak static charge from the glass panes in the window itself. Glass will generate a weak ESC by moving especially if it's in an insulator which wood is a very good insulator. Just a thought.....not trying to bag out the ESD.....I actually think it's kinda cool and wouldn't mind one for my team.
