A dramatic reenactment of Leonardo da Vinci's painting of the "Last Supper," featuring Judas' monologue, for East Liberty Presbyterian Church's Maundy Thursday service (April 5, 2007). Judas is played by Chuck Nichols. Music is performed by Julieta Ugartemendia.

"Maundy" comes from the Latin word mandatum, which means "commandment." In John 13:1-20, Jesus washes the feet of his apostles at the Last Supper. Jesus later says, "I give you a new commandment: love one another. As I have loved you, so you also should love one another" (13:34).

  • @xxxxxxxxxxvxxxxxxxxxx Yes, no idea what is up with VYou being down. A joyous Easter to you as well. We started our liturgies Monday -- Maronite rite Catholics have stuff for the entirety of Holy Week. Tonight: washing of the feet, followed by adoration in shifts throughout the night.

  • @gbisadler

    Indeed!!! Hey there G.B.

    "tabasamu" here. LOL.

VYou is down and I'm gettin' antsy.

If I don't get the chance:

May you have a JOYOUS EASTER! Rejoice! He is Risen!

  • Hard to believe that no one has posted a comment here for two years.

    This portrayal is awesome!

    Great insight.

Love his proclamation that our souls are not as white.

I found this two years ago and think its a gem.

I think it has not gotten more notice because of the title. Perhaps if "Judas" was the initial word.

I kept looking for it under "Judas" and it was not listed.

I may repost this (with approval).

    Great job Mr. Nichols!

  • i was very moved by his performance. is he a professional? very very good
