We have been working on self care in the mornings now for one month. I have stopped all verbal hints to follow his self care program list he created. So, there has to be a consequence if he does not work hard enough to focus from start to end. Now that he has all the actions down he has to learn to self motivate his thoughts and focus. So , we may be missing a few buses or video game time might suffer until he gets the hang of it.

  • Hi, I was going through my subscriptions and I noticed that you'd subscribed to my channel probably back in 2008. I was doing videos on my son's diagnosis with autism. I was wondering, he is 4 now and I'm having the hardest time potty training him. Any suggestions?

  • @Zipporah7011 We tired everything. Then I used water enema. I gave enema then put him on the pot right away. He held it because it was awkward to release anywhere other than pants. Once he went in the toilet I praised him a ton. The next day I did not let him wear a diaper all day. Guess what? he went in the toilet from that day forward. It taught him to connect to his body . many autistics cant feel things in the same way NT kids do due to the sensory system.

  • I hope your boy never finds out you've uploaded videos of him here and invited people to come along and say mean, heartless things about him. Don't say I didn't warn you

  • @carveyournamein People are heartless at times whether its on youtube , school , or anywhere. I am teaching him this so he can be prepared. He knows the videos are here and he likes them being here. He wants to help others if he can. Thank you for your concern.

  • I don't know if I'm autistic or have asperger's syndrome.

There is a learned helplessness that involves me comparing myself to others' success only to find I am lacking. When I look for the means of learning the skills i see more people already completing their certifications- then I do not care about anything and want to die it's annoying because I drop classes too fast.

This has been chronic and gets in the way of work and other activities and I have trouble responding properly.
