As glamourous as any of the oldtime movie queens,Martha Carson was one of the early(unsung)architects of R&R. She taught Elvis how to move and as a songwriter and performer was a stylistic influence on more than a handful of music legends through the years. In the mid 80's, Martha befriended Shangs member, David Byers, who in turn, wrote several indepth, biographical articles on her career, published in a number of collector music magazines (Goldmine et al...).He also coined the phrase: "The Rockin' Queen Of Happy Spirituals", which eventually became the heading of her press-release obituary apon her death in 2004.He remembers Martha as a warm and grand lady - the two got together on several occasions in her hometown of Nashville. This unreleased instrumental is an outake from the "A Little Bit Of Semi-Heaven" sessions, The Shang's acclaimed 1st CD and is,of course, dedicated to one of the most explosive and talented performers in any music genre, Miss Martha Carson!!! Special thanks to Pat O'Neill. Visit the Shangs online at: The Jayne Room - Official Website Of The Shangs.
A revelation of sound and vision ! The lady would definitely approve, since she herself broke tradition and did it her way. Her music was and is infectious and this group honours her amazing talent.Thank you for this !!
