Dolphin Drive Hunt in Japan Continues - up to 20,000 Dalls porpoises to be massacred

Video shot in northern Japan shows that the country's harpoon hunt of Dall's porpoises is continuing, despite growing international pressure. Carcasses of Dall's porpoises pile up in warehouses. Similar in size to a dolphin, the black and white cetacean often follows the bows of boats. But that friendly nature makes them easy prey for hunters. Japan's large scale hunting has been going on continuously for around 50 years. A senior campaigner says it "is almost a secret in Japan and around the world". Clare Perry of the Environmental Investigation Agency, said, "I think one of the reasons is because it takes place in northern Japan. It's a fairly remote area and it is not quite as sensationalized maybe as some of the other whale and dolphin hunts are. " The International Whaling Commission has banned commercial whaling. However, the ban is believed to have led to an increasing demand for Dall's porpoise as a substitute. Today, around 15-thousand Dall's porpoises are killed each year in a hand harpoon hunt. It has been repeatedly described by the IWC as "clearly unsustainable".

@evagiamhc your friends are dumber for believing in such childish things like karma. If it is healthy, we can eat dogs, cats and whatever animal, to make them 'best friends' is purely psychological morality.

But if what you're saying is true, then the government HAS to take care of its people by making the markets tell people when they are eating dolphin or not. To deceive the customer is a rather serious offense!

when tsunami,earthquake,radioactive happen in JP, my frens say tis is JP Karma! I scold them,dont say like dat, no matter wat history,Is not all Jpnese. My frens laugh at me say i stupid. But for me, i m talking abt the situation not the nationality. Today, my fren ask me to watch The Cove. After i watch tis movie i cry ,but again, many JPnese dont know they r eating dolphin.
