Technology High School students are currently forced to have their gym classes in the auditorium, cramped hallways and tiny weight room due to a condemnation by the NJ school board. The current gym (designed to fit only 50 students at a time, but is used by 500) is closed due to inhumane and unethically hazardous conditions (mold, exposed pipes, walls rotting).
Students and teachers banned together and effected change: over the course of a year, they created a plan to build on top of the current Technology High School building, adding 3 floors and providing students with a new space that would inspire students, educators, parents and the community- finally offering what they so desperatley need: a new health and recreation center.
The new construction holds a proposed cost of $15 million dollars and cannot be funded by the school board or taxpayer dollars. As such, we are in desperate need a hero to step in an save the students of Technology High School. A gym is not a luxury or a privilege, it is a basic human necessity that these students should not be robbed from.

Sure, It all looks good on paper but what it all comes down to is HOW? Costs for a project of that magnitude would surely surpass initial projections. When I attended Tech High we made use of the gym the best we could. Good Luck with that new gym.
