  • So what happened after this week? Did the Eurostars simply stop running on these lines, or were these lines upgraded to overhead high voltage AC?

  • @ApolloWasReal - They now use high speed route HS1 into St Pancras

  • @trevormstone Did the eurostars have they DC (Direct Current) shoegear removed

  • @Cazkumali They were removed

  • @trevormstone What was the speed limit on the Eurostars when they run on the DC (Direct Current) 3RD Rail

  • @Cazkumali - 100mph (160km/h) I think. Sure it was no more than that.

  • All I can say is thank god for HS1. Eurostar seemed to crawl round on a 3rd rail system. Now with proper electrifcation she can release her full potential.

  • i'm glad they now use full AC power...... much faster, much more fun ! look how slow they were restricted to

  • there dc days were fun, i loved looking at them when on the southeastern mainline

  • Shades of the world's very first high-speed supertrains, the P&W Bullets of 1931; streamlined high-speed electric trains operating off of third rail.
