  • Anecdotal evidence? Dê tha sin?

  • @donnajeanapril17 That stupid councillor on the video should leave Scotland immediately, if he doesn't care about his scottish cultural roots, when he says multi lingual signs are not necessary. Maybe he should immigrate to England and stay there forever and don't come back !!!

  • it works in Canada, it's gonna work in Ireland too. It slows the traffic down? bullshit!

    Preserve the Gaelic!

  • They're right, it shouldn't be bilingual. It should just be in Gaelic.

  • preserve your roots! ur gaels not brits!!!

  • The indigenous language still spoken by residents ought to be on signs all over the world! In the Western Isles, signs ought to be in Gaelic only, in the Highlands bilingual! Before replacing old signs, one could at first put stickers below the English names.

  • i was driving up north few weeks ago n could read the signs fine. the only complaints came from a guy who sounded english and a lib dem knob jockey. Not surprising really.

  • There are bilingual signs in Wales too. I've never heard of any accidents caused by the signs there.

  • Slows traffic have these people who drive passed there test lol !!!!!! Long live Gaelic wish i spoke it as i think as i am scottish it should be the first language then english !!! o and Scottish Independence !!!!!

  • it's not about accomodating people who are just passing through, it's about the Gaelic heritage that the locals are proud of. Here in Ireland, towns are starting to change totally to their original names (like Dingle changing to An Daingean). They faced backlash because the place is touristy, but it's not about the tourists. Both of our countries have a hard enough time keeping our languages afloat, this is just another kick in the balls to Scots Gaelic and to the Celtic languages as a whole.

  • lol planty of countries manage with 2 or 3 languages so tell that fat man to shut the fuck up and stop being stupid.

  • haha... typical that it'd be a Caithness counciller trying to get rid of the language.. what a prick...

  • The one person that disagreed was English. Stupid idiot.

  • The culture has been there longer then them and the people who live there use it, if people have a problem with it not being written in english then they can stay home.
