i done this 2 christmas-s a go. i gave her a DVD. >:D
So it all turned out well. took her 1hour and 30 minutes to open- WITH an eletrical knife :)
She wasnt impressed.

@TaoOfPooh26 Damn. youtube deleted my comment. Saying that I'd be just as mad whether or not it melted my present, after all that work, if it turned out to be a styro-gift. :)
Also that spray paint seems to etch styros pretty well: found that out while ruining a high school project. :)

Actually, it was more fun using plain old spray paint back in high school. We tried to paint a styro sheet once, and it didn't work well, but it sure was pretty!

If I recall *MY* chemistry well, a small atomizer of regular unleaded might make the UNwrapping quite a bit easier. :D

True, but when you melt polystyrene with an organic solvent (such as gasoline or acetone), it doesn't dissolve completely. You're left with residue - dangerous fumes, and never mind if the GIFT is made from petro-plastics as well. No melty presents! :(
