Ragna (me) vs. Noel (FEAR WICK3D)

So I signed up for another online tournament at a website named 2 Solid. You can find it here: http://www.2solid.com/

Really, it's a great site if you're into competitive video games. Cash prizes everywhere, not just for Blazblue, and I would imagine you can set up your own tournaments there, too. So give it a visit, register, and sign up for some tournaments! I think you'll be surprised at how much fun it is. :D

Well, onto the first round of the tournament. Well... first for me, at least. Like my last Astral Heat tournament, I got a bye for the first round, due to my opponent never responding to my multiple attempts to get a hold of him. So... After playing some friendlies to warm up for a little while, I finally got to face my first opponent- FEAR WICK3D.

Now, I'm going to go with a slightly different approach in my video uploading this time around. Instead of posting a different video for every match like I've done in the past and ending up with a million different videos, I'm going to put multiple matches into one video at a time. That means that my commentaries here in the description will also be separated by round. So... Let's get started.

Match 1- Okay, so I finally get to play a match in the tourney. Man, I'm sweating. I hardly ever play for actual prizes, so it's kind of getting to me. My playing style gets a little off, I'm still getting nervous over it, and before I know it- wow, Perfect on the first round. That's a good start. And honestly, I really needed it. It really helped boost my morale, and I was really confident in my abilities after it. As for the second round, it was pretty normal for me. I use a lot of my usual combos, mix it up a bit, and- pay attention to this, you're going to see why soon enough- I end the match by running towards FEAR, activating Carnage Scissor right as he uses 8D. So this was a HUGE relief. I'm so glad to have done so well on my first match, and while it wasn't perfect, it set the stage for the rest of my matches. :D

Match 2- Onto the second match. Now, something you'll notice a lot in these coming matches is that I'm going to be hit a lot by Noel's Drive mix-ups. FEAR uses Drives quite a lot for a Noel player, which is something I really should know how to punish by now, but kind of don't. :/ Anyway, as for the first round, pretty normal again for me, though I accidentally Barrier Block JUST long enough to put me in Danger status... But it does a pretty nice job of luring FEAR into another Carnage Scissor Distortion Finish (counter hit from 8D again). :D And the second round isn't really special either, just me being me, mixing up moves and combos, and, once again, counter-hitting 8D with Carnage Scissor to win the match. XP

Match 3- Well, things are going pretty good for me... Ugh. Taokaka's theme. :/ I shouldn't really complain about the music in a match- after all, I'm the one who was choosing Random as both selections before the match. But it's kind of difficult to play seriously when a theme like this is playing in such a competitive game... T_T; Take what you like. That's just how I feel about it. o_o; So... back to the third match... It's around this time that I realize that an effective way of avoiding Noel's Drive moves is holding Diagonal Back on the control stick, as nooby as it might seem. XD And after the usual from me, I end the first round (again) countering 8D with Carnage Scissor, this time using the Invincibility Frames to my advantage. :3 As for the second round, though... Man, that was pretty close. I thought he had me after using Zero-Gun: Fenrir, but yeah... Can you guess what happens? Seems like he had just enough health from Barrier Bursting to get killed by Carnage Scissor (noticing a trend here yet?), putting me at three victories. :D Yay!

Well, that's it for the first part. Don't forget to check out the final matches between me and FEAR, which you can find on my channel! :D Thanks for watching!

  • srsly this is tourney level? u guys should check Buppa

  • @AnonymousBrawler This was tournament level less than a couple months after the game's release, the majority of the console players not having the leisure of a CT arcade cabinet to play on beforehand. I can assure you, myself included, anyone in this video who still plays is a *lot* better.

  • ragna and jin are cheating chracters iron tager all the way

  • @Sasori3Ace Uh, what? Ragna and Jin don't have anti-air grabs with ridiculous invincibility frames that take out nearly 1/3 of their opponent's health. I'm not saying Tager's all that or anything- I just don't see what makes Ragna or Jin "cheating characters."

  • wow this looks awesome should i buy this or wait for AC:brotherhod and naruto shippuuden ultimate ninja storm 2?

  • @fa9ooll They're all very different games, but I personally enjoy Blazblue the most. With Continuum Shift (the sequel to Calamity Trigger, or Blazblue 1) out at $40 right now, I would go for it if I were you. But if you're just looking for a cheap fighting game to keep you held over, Calamity Trigger is just $20, and the online is still active. They are both worth your money.

  • @doorsopen @doorsopen Arakune, Nu, Rachel, and Litchi give me the most problems. Arakunes like to fly around use the curse cloud to zone, and Ragna doesn't have any projectiles. Nus like to backdash + Drive, so it's pretty 50/50 on trying to approach them. Rachel has 2C and 6B, which both easily punish a misguided offense (and G.H. can't hit her when she's blocking low). And Litchi... Actually, I don't know what it is about Litchi. XD
