Zeni Geva are a band hailing from Kanagawa prefecture, Japan. There are two core members that have stayed with the band throughout their history from 1987 to now, KK Null and Tabata Mitsuru. In 2009 Tatsuya Yoshida (Ruins) rejoined Zeni Geva after an almost 20 year absence.

For a full history of Zeni Geva, please refer to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zeni_Geva

The song Dead Sun Rising was originally part of the "Desire for Agony" album (1993, Alternative Tentacles: VIRUS-135CD), and has been included on two live recordings "Trance Europe Experience" (1995, Nux Organization: NUX-D12) and now "Alive and Rising" (2010, Hello From The Gutter: HFTG-008).

The audio for this clip from the new CD, "Alive and Rising." The performance that the CD was recorded from was at Taku-Taku in Kyoto, but the footage used here to make the clip was recorded six months later at Namba Bears in Osaka. I was lucky enough to be at both these performances. Thank you to Tom for his black and white footage, which I have intercut with my colour footage. Thank you also to Zeni Geva for their amazing performances and their interest in this clip.

Zeni Geva remain one of the most interesting, full-on, experimental/noise metal bands that Japan, nay, the world, has ever produced. I sincerely hope you enjoy this film. - Em

  • who could sound less than stellar when tatsuda yoshida plays drum for you ?

  • @NoiseArtJerk k k can't get in the US

  • SOOOO happy to find this!!!!

  • COOL.

  • @crossofthesphinx Hi, yes, the audio from the actual gig was distorted and unusable so I used the audio from the "Alive and Rising" release. As Yoshida does not hit the same drums at the same point in the performance (which is what is amazing about him as a drummer) there isn't a perfect synchronisity between the two performances. Please see the clip description for further details.

  • I saw these guys in 96.still rock and I'm glad!
