this all presupposes that the F22 is not a piece of crap that has been grounded because it cant keep its pilot alive with clean air, or the fact it was also grounded because it turns into a pile of mush when it gets wet, a none waterproof plane, truely awsome. Its got a pretty sad record so far, but its hard to get good info as it breaks down on average every 4 hours spent flying. The F22 may be 5 gen, but most 4th gen aircraft would piss on it.
@kaplich The F-22 also has passive radar that woks very well even at BVR range. In UAE against the Rafale it got easy kills w/o ever turning on its radar. And, AESA radar is not so easy to detect the exact location, anyway. If it were you wouldn't see so many nations spending billions to replace their PESA radars with it. In addition, even when an aircraft has located the F-22, it has still shown to be difficult to lock on, even at WVR.
@kaplich Wow never knew that thanks for teaching me that it is so cool.How do you know that or where did you get that infomation from are you a radar expert or something your knowledge of radars is cool what else do you know I love to learn about this type of stuff.
L can track a plane regardless if its radar turned on or off. the only problem it isn't precise enough for targeting.. stealth form was originally designed against HF-band radars only.. my point when F22 turns on own radar it can be detected by HF-band radars used by missiles and can be hit.. "active" mode in pilot terminology means that fighter is actively looking for target using own radar.. as opposite to "passive" mode which allows to detect another radar beams..
@kaplich Hey your right as a plane turns on its own radar it could be tracked by a L-band radar sorry I didn't really understood your term of *active* mode I was thinking of the plane turning on it's stealth. "WOW I'M AN IDIOT".What was I thinking sorry LOL!
@LATSCHOIS Mig-35 is also older ... at least 10 -15 years older than f-22
