Mass Effect has one of the greatest storylines in a video game I've seen in a very long time. So much that I even went out and read the first and so far only two novels based on the game in the past few weeks. After playing through the first game and half way in to the second, I had the desire to make this video. It's a fanmade trailer that attempts to portray the universe of Mass Effect in movie format. Windows Movie Maker is a simple program, and I wish it offered more, but so far it's the only program I can load my clips in to and I'm trying to exploit it as much as possible.

MASS EFFECT SPOILERS BELOW:

50,000 years ago, a race called the Protheans dominated the galaxy. Their empire was the most advanced the galaxy had ever seen, until they mysteriously vanished over the course of a few centuries. They are believed to have constructed the Mass Relays, devices that allow the species of the galaxy to travel among the stars. However, the Protheans were not the most advanced race the galaxy had seen. They were the latest to be wiped out in a cycle that has continued unbroken for 50 million years. Every time organic civilization advances to a certain point, the Reapers, a sentient robotic species, appear and kill of all intelligent life in the galaxy. Then, as the next generation of species takes their place, the process repeats. Now, a Rogue Spectre named Saren has woken Sovereign, the Vanguard of the Reaper invasion. It's up to the first human Spectre, John Sheppard to track him down and stop him before the cycle begins again

  • For the most part, good video. Great idea, good choice of clips, well put together. It forms a nice cohesive story. I did see some major aspect ratio fail, some logos, and some audio issues. I didn't like the titles either- the font was awful. However, despite its flaws it is still an excellent video.

  • @XCVGVCX Thank You! :D I hated the font too, but was limited to whatever Movie Maker had. Would you happen to know where i might be able to find something better? That would be awesome :)

  • Jesus did you just use Freespace?

  • @CheifTucker Yeah. I thought it work with the clips. Couldn't find much Prothean stuff.

  • @Starliner1701 the pros use Final Cut pro (MAC only) and Avid.... though i personaly like Adobe Premeire, its just like final cut but with a few minor things that are just a tiny bit more convienent in my oppinion, it links directly to Adobe After Effects if you plan on making your own effects. also it works on PC so that was a major plus to me. if those dont strike your fancy you might also try Sony Vegas.
