I think I had a lucid dream last night, but I don't know If I just dreamed that I thought "I am in a dream! This is not real" or I really thought this. I don't know If it was me or just a representation of my dream... Could you say with certainty that you knew you were in a dream? Does it feel like "I did it" or is it just a memory?

Ideally, it should not be as if you dreamed that you thought you were dreaming. It should be as if you are in the dream world while awake. Just like the many stages of anesthesia, there are many levels of awareness between awake and enlightened.

I've had both experiences, dreams that I can definitely say I was actually lucid and memories of dreams that felt lucid but weren't actually lucid in real time.
