  • Hi Ernest - Nice conversion. Was considering a Fly Eagle F-16 conversion. Saw a second hand airframe today. Weight of the airframe including servos etc but no turbine or tanks was 16lbs. Sound right to you? Would mean with fan/motor/ESC/lipos I would be looking at 21lbs on a 54" wingspan. Fairly heavy wingloading? Any input appreciated mate.

  • Thanks Ditchit, how have you been?

I was considering between a SM and FEJ F-16 before. Didnt go for the FEJ at the end of the day due to some reasons.

    1. Heavy airframe for an EDF conversion.

    2. Engine mount needs modification inorder to fit in a 120mm size EDF.

    3. Smaller FSA for air intake compare to SM.

  • May I ask what fan are you planning to install? If I am not wrong, the FEJ F-16's engine mount can fit in 100-110mm size EDF only.

21Ibs sounds a little heavy as mine weight about 17-18lbs only. However, if yours is able to produce enough thrust, taking off and scale flying should'nt be an issue but do not expect any unlimited vertical climb.

Good luck with your coming up project and enjoy your build. Do keep me posted.

    Cheers

  • Schuebeler DS94HST is intended power system on 14S7200 lipo. Was only considering the FEJ because a guy was selling a new kit for low price. Transpired the retracts did not work when I asked for demo. Probably for the best. Think I'll wait until I can get a Tomahawk or Skymaster 2m Viperjet. I'll keep in touch. Cheers Dominic

  • Glad to know that Dominic, Wait for the SM 2m Viperjet, According to Anton, it should be ready anytime b4 Xmas.. Hohoho.. I like that jet too. :)

  • how much did u buy the jet?

  • Airframe itself is cost about USD1K plus.

Total set up cost (RTF) with batts is about USD4000.00

  • Oops, I meant to say ernest. Why don't you put the evf vio fan instead of the eturbax. Evf make more power

  • Ern

  • Disappointed you could not retract the gear to permit the model to get up on its wing step to fly properly. Have you additional video with it retracted?

  • Good to know that. Thanks. I hear Anton is going to do an EDF Viperjet but its a lot smaller than this new 2m kit. Bigger the better!

  • Have been well mate but getting tired of foamies and smaller composite models. Fortunatley have the funds to step up to something bigger. Agree with all your points above. The airframe is MUCH heavier. My 128mm would fit JUST but you are right, the bubble for the retracts just inside the intake makes FSA very small.
