11 million? that's staggering. There's something very unsettling with seeing dogs behind cages, when they should be playing frisbee and running in the park.

This is such a sad fact, but one that can only be reduced through responsible pet ownership and commitment to your animals.

So please make adoption your number one option when considering a pet for yourself and family and give one of these wonderful animals a best friend before they become another statistic.

Think about it next time you go to the doctor for bronchitis, or a friend of yours has agressive cancer. Think about it when you hear about someone dying from an adverse reaction to a drug.

And then, think about how many people that adverse reaction could have occured in had we started testing (or didn't test at all) in humans. Think about it when your parents are laying in the hospital, and are going to make it home again because of a medicine that was tested, and approved.

I'm guessing your liberal ass is going to be first in line to test a new compound that could save thousands of lives...or could cause blindness or other harmful side effects. Their sacrifice is a price that must be paid. Its unfortunate, but complain to the people who bitch every time their medication does something weird to their bodies. These animals save lives, and I thank them every day.
