It's natural. But I used the knuckle of my thumb to get it. It doesn't come with just a finger tip.

Fairly easy! Do a YouTube search for "making a propane tank drum" user 'theliftedloraxshow'. Also search for "Dennis Havlena" who is the inventor. He has blue prints for the Hang on his main site. (Address available on his YouTube profile.) Good luck!

@justinc18 It's not that you have to hit them hard, it's that people aren't hitting them right. Higher notes need to be hit closer to the edge to get a proper sound.
