B&LE, Bessemer & Lake Erie, SD9 and SD38's at work on the south end in PA... 8-02-89.

We start with a B&LE SD9 shoving hoppers at N Butler yard. Then a south bound ore train passes in Butler with four SD38's in charge. We then head south of Saxonburg, in two locations, the first catch is passing the signal. The final clip is the train heading back north crossing the massive bridge over the Allegeny River near Harmerville PA. A bay window caboose brings up the rear. Thanks for watching...

@fhqwgads2 B&LE didn't own any SD40-2's. They had SD38's, SD38AC's, and SD38-2's. These are all SD38 models. They are where built on a SD40 & SD40-2 frames, non-turbocharged 2000 hp... The difference between the external looks between the SD440 & SD40-2, was the grills, and the 40-2 had longer porches front and rear...

I live right next to Allegheny Industrial District. It's not what it used to be but, I do hear/see them loading and unloading railcars at one manufacturing plant. They also have a spur line to my plant as well. I still wish they used it.
