米国最大のスポーツ・エンターテインメント団体「WWE」で一時代を築いたスターレスラー、ストーン・コールド・スティーブ・オースチン選手（45）の初主演アクション映­画「監獄島」（スコット・ワイパー監督・脚本）が19日、日本で劇場公開された。かつてWWEで活躍し、今も米国のお茶の間で抜群の知名度を誇る人気レスラー、TAJIR­I選手（39）がこの日、東京・渋谷のシアターN渋谷で舞台あいさつ。一方的にオースチン選手から攻撃を受け、敗北を喫した過去の〝しょっぱい〟対戦をユーモアたっぷりに­振り返ったほか、華麗な動きで米国の観客を沸かせるWWE選手たちの秘話を披露した。
