Mid-program bumpers for As the World Turns, from a July 1988 broadcast. Within the next two months after this taping, a couple of changes occured to this mid-break presentation: in August, the orchestral version of "The World Turns On and On" changed to the synthesized remix, and in September, P&G ceased sponsor plugs on the mid-bumpers. However, the addage that did remain at that time was the black bar at the bottom for affiliate ID, which had only been introduced just prior to summer 1988.

As evidenced by the display, this was from WNEV 7 in Boston.

  • I know this one wasn't continued through 1993. But the one that was played on the midprogram bumper wasn't the synthesizer theme because it was completely different from the version played over the opening/closing it even had different drum beats at the end of the verse along with a different style ending note which sounded like a full instrumental version.

  • Yes, but you keep implying that is is the synthesized version, but it is not. These were taped in July 1988, and the synth remix did not start for another month. Unless you are talking about the 10/89 bumpers (?) Anyways, the notes heard here do sound a little different, which leads me to believe that when this orchestral version was originally recorded, they composed special cuts for the bumpers only.

  • This sounds like a harpsichord remix. The orchestral remix was played over the midprogram break atleast from 1988-1993 you could tell the difference from that theme versus the one played on the opening/closing which was the techno synthesized remix.

  • I am afraid you are mislead, just like you were on another ATWT video page. The 2nd remix of this theme, as heard here, was not continued on mid-program bumpers through February 1993. As evidenced by October 1989 bumpers posted by another user, the synth remix was used on the bumpers for the final 4 and 1/2 years of the package. What you hear here is not the harpsichord, since that was discontinued on bumpers in late 1984.

  • Looking to increase the visits to your site?It is a well kept secret that all big sites have an affiliate program,The GAS system is the best overall,Because the average person doesn't have the coding skills to install other aff systems,Get the program at GAS-AFFILIATEdotCOM.

  • I remember these well playing everyday at 1:00pm central time during the half hour break for ATWT.

  • That theme was the 1988-1993 version of the theme...CBS, for whatever, decided to use that version on that episode, and that is why you may be confused. They synth remix never came into effect until 1988, late August-early September of that year.

  • this brings me back to the dats when i was with ms. davis my loving babysitter my she rest in peace

  • It was a classic episode back when cbs did the soap opera holiday classics I believe it was either during a thanksgiving or new years.

  • continued post-I even heard it on the opening and midprogram bumpers and end a 1987 episode of as the world turns many years ago back when Iva told Lily she was adopted and that she was her mom not Lucinda Walsh.
