Thank you, Liscia2008. Interesting history.

@rerite2 You're correct! A week or so later after I wrote my message below, I did a little research. It would seem (I can't verfiy it) that WK Kellogg probably got one of Rin Tin Tin's offspring, not Rin Tin Tin himself. I apologize--I didn't mean to spread disinformation! I also called my ex-husband to tell him to stop telling the tale at family gatherings, and to express my disappointment.

@Lisica2008 ...i'm reading Susan Orleans book about Rin TIn Tin. She says a guy named Lee found and raised, trained and exploited the dog. Are we thinking about the same Rin Tin Tin, born in France?

The original Rin-Tin-Tin (not the one in the TV series) was owned by WK Kellogg. My deceased mother-in-law's father worked closely with Kellogg in the 1920s when she was a little girl and sometimes took her over to Kellogg's house. She remembers playing with Rin-Tin-Tin. I always thought that was so cool.

Yo Rinty!! It's Saturday morning, & I just watched Fury. Better have a bowl of Sugar Pops & then watch Lassie (with Tommy Rettig, of course)
