different from what i'm used to. first thing that's different is that almost nobody drives to the supermarkets in berlin (notice no cars in the parking lot). they ride their bikes. this guy was having a little difficulty as you can see. and the supermarkets charge you to use their shopping carts and to get bags for your food so most people have to balance what they bought as they ride or walk home. it's common to see people inside without a cart and with more than 20 items piled in their hands. another option is for people to use the boxes the food comes in to hold their stuff since most supermarkets leave the food in the box it came in on the shelf or fridge. the one good thing about deutschland's supermarkts is that they are extremely cheap. Walmart tired to open a supermarket in germany yet couldn't hang.
1 liter milk cost 50 cents.
1.5 liters bottled water 20 cents (if you just buy one)
1 liter apple juice 60 cents.
cream cheese 65 cents.
just to name a few things.

  • Hmm... where we live in Germany, the Parking lots in the supermarkets are always full. Usually we only walk to a supermarket when its only for one or two items and when the merket is one or two streets away... And we never have to PAY for a trolley OO

  • that works too!

  • I'm german and i never walked to the supermarket or got there by bike. i always drice by car, even if the supermarket is near me adn i don't kyow anyone who wlkes there or ride the bike. And the supermarkts don't charge youu for using the cart.

  • dit is doch beim mauerpark in Berlin vor der Kletterwand.

  • Gingers dont have souls

  • boring!

  • Me being a German, I've never been charged at all for a shopping cart - you have to insert a 1-Euro-coin as a deposit, that's all, even in Berlin. But, yes, we avoid taking a car unless it's REALLY necessary. When the supermarket's in our walking range, of course we walk there. Did it for years, but then I got tired of Aldi's and wanted to have a fresh meat counter in my supermarket, now take the bike or the car to go to REAL's.

  • hahahaha, totally opposite to where I live: Phoenix, the land of cars.
