  • Believe this was made to sell potential advertisers on Redbook, ca. 1956. The gals shown here averaged only 19 y.o. when married (if working class), 23 for the rest. They are, or produced, the majority of Americans alive today. Responsibility so early must have been scary -- but they had a strong support system in the form of older relatives and in-laws. So different -- have they never heard of baby-sitters? Etc. Also, everyone shown is white...surely not an accident. And Daddy, only, worked.

  • This is the source of the voice clip in a Le Tigre song! When the lady asks: "I wonder if we could be happy in a place like that?" I believe the song is "FYR" It's at 6:05 in the video.
