A fatal fire to tell you about. At least 43 people are dead with dozens injured after a fire broke out at a nightclub in southern China. Here's more on the story.
STORY:
The charred interior of the Dance King night club in Shenzhen, just across the border from Hong Kong.
Up to a thousand people had been enjoying a Saturday night out when a fire broke out just before midnight.
The main hall quickly filled with deadly smoke after a pyrotechnics candle display touched the ceiling, plunging the club into darkness.
Panicked revelers pushed their way out down a narrow aisle - at least 43 people are thought to have died and up to ninety were injured.
Firefighters trying to access the three-story building had to break through windows to pull people out - some windows had been blocked by bricks and wooden boards.
Local officials have ordered an immediate investigation into the cause of the accident - there has been some suggestion that the club was operating without a proper license - although this hasn't been confirmed by the authorities.
The incident follows a fire at a coal mine in Heilongjiang Province on Saturday which killed at least 19 people.
