Compare this magnifent recording to the Kreisler's own, equally radiant but a little more gentle. Shumsky is like a comet but Fritz made the violin sound the way Flagstad sang--for the linstern, like being inside a "resounding bell."

I'm playing both, and I disagree, I think the De Falla is harder. It's all a matter of opinion though anyway :)

well it's definately not sight read-able, but it's easier than the bruch concerto that I'm playing right now

what are you talking about. it IS a difficult piece to play. its not one of those show pieces that you can sightread. double stopping, intonation, and bow control are all crucial and are required at quite a high level of skill.
this is on the cd precenting joshua bell, i loved it the first time i heard it
shumsky sounds wonderful here

I loved it the first time, too. It's just such a spectacular display of violin playing.
