SplitPlaythru Channel update: Partnership get!, 3rd year anniversary, future projects

A couple of nice things happened and one not so nice thing happened. I'd like to deal with that bad thing thing first.

The new channel layout is poor - this Cosmic Panda (I think it's called like that) will be forced onto us with 1st March of 2012. Remember two years back or so when the current channel layout was also forced onto us? I actually grew to like it and I think it's quite handy in seeing the new uploads, comments from other people, playlists and such. But the new layout is simply atrocious.

Next I'll talk a bit about future projects that I intend to do with this channel. First and foremost is obviously Final Fantasy XIII-2, english edition. Call me crazy - I got japanese version of the game, will get Crystal edition of the game (I shelled 130 smackers for it), and will get regular edition of the game. February will be busy month. Along with FFXIII-2, Soul Calibur 5 and Tales of Graces F are also released (I'll have to import the latter). Sad thing on me is that I had JP version of Graces for very long time now, but I never got around to play it past the point of Sophie joining my party. Same with Tales of Xillia, haha. Soul Calibut 5 will be great! Especially Taki...

For my old unfinished projects I cannot promise anything. There are some people that would like to see me continue Tales of the Abyss, Tales of Legendia and some FF titles for PS2, but understand that those are not priority projects.

I try to read all comments, but I cannot respond to all of them. I have over 10000 videos uploaded, so that's pretty much impossible. I respond to all private messages, though. In the past I had it restricted to friends only, but I removed that restriction now.

The recording device for my HD videos is Hauppauge's HD PVR. I don't know the price of it in US, but when I purchased it two years ago, I put down 200 EUR for it. Despite the price I'm glad I got this piece of hardware, for it does its job very well and would recommend it to anyone who wants to capture HD videos.

People who rant on me for using cheat codes in some of my video walkthroughs - so what? I'm playing the game for the sake of uploading it to youtube. I will not spend X amount of hours perfecting the strategy for a boss fight, or painstakingly defeat Y enemy for Z drop, when I can do the same thing within minutes with use of cheat codes. If you don't like it, tough luck. Look out for another person's video where that person spends 10 minutes fighting a boss, or 20 minutes of footage showing how to repeatedly kill same enemy over and over until the drop is achieved.

My second most received rant is why I cut out battles from certain video walkthroughs. There's one answer - to prevent you, the viewer, from getting bored. Here is one example - Lost Odyssey for XBOX360. Lost Odyssey had battles that lasted a fair amount of time, and I found them boring, so that's why I cut them out. Besides that, people weren't watching my LO videos for battles, but to see how to proceed with the game, and to obtain their Treasure Trove trophy. What's more, ratio of people thanking me for cutting out the battles is significantly larger than people berating me for doing that. If you want to see battles, go look at other people's walkthroughs, I am not the only person who did one.

Now about the commentary. Some of you people may love to hear the uploader comment while playing, but I for one cannot stand it. I do not watch a video walkthrough because I want to hear the person talking during it, I watch te video cos I'm interested in the *game*. G-A-M-E. I don't care how many times you had to throw your controller against the wall, or if your girlfriend/boyfriend refuses to go out with you, shut up. I'm especially annoying if the uploader yaps on during cutscenes.

For this next thing I need help from you the viewers. Recommend me some games which come out in this year and for which you'd like to see a playthrough of. The games that are out of the question are - shooters, sports games, simulations. I'm game for RPGs (but without mandatory online element), platformers, fighting games (not showing online duels, because I'm not *that* good a fighter), action adventures. I've already laid out Tales of Graces F and Soul Calibur 5. Then there's Resident Evil 6 somewhere near end of 2012.

And in the end, the greatest thing since Kasumi appeared in video games... SplitPlaythru has become a youtube partner. After almost three years of youtubing I now have certain perks I can use, like uploading a custom thumbnail for any video I made. And I think I can now make something called seasons, which is sorting the videos in some kind of playlist, but I have to fiddle with settings first. You cannot imagine how glad I was when my youtube partnership request was accepted.

Would you be interested in doing a walkthrough for Armored Core 5? I couldn't tell if it falls under one of the categories that are straight out. The JP demo is out so maybe you could give it a try to see if it's your style. It comes out March 23 or 26 (EU) and i'd really like to see a walkthrough made by you. Congratulations! I've been using your FF walkthroughs to get me through tough spots or simply look ahead since FFX, but I've only just recently started watching the videos (FFXIII, FFXIII-2). I'm disappointed in myself that I didn't look at them sooner! Very helpful. The Japanese versions are always better---they have more emotion. Congratulations Split! I'll be looking forward to every video that you put up! I don't know anything about the Tales series so watching that Tales Of Graces F will be neat. As for the English version of FF13-2, I plan on buying the game at some point, so I won't be watching that walkthrough due to spoilers, but I did watch your entire JP walkthrough of it though :)

Although you say you don't want to play MMOs, I heard you could complete everything in White Knight Chronicles 2 without ever going online because you can use all your NPCs this time in quests. It plays like Final Fantasy 12, but has a butchered system. I'm planning to play this game (which comes with both WKC1 and WKC2), fully offline. I'm not really interested to play online on RPGs too, some people just get in our ways if you're not well organized or don't have anything to communicate.

(which is almost 2 years.) u deserved to have been a partner a long time ago but im glad u made it. im looking forward to watching soul calibur 5 and tales of graces f. Congrats on your 3rd year! You've probably been asked this already, but how are you liking FFXIII-2? I know you don't like the random battles and the shorter length of the game but anything else you'd like to touch upon? Do you recommend it?
