Here`s my bud and me flying our 1930`s free flight designs converted to RC on one of the few wind free and rain free evenings we have had this year. Both are powered by small four stroke glow engines. More fun than 3D!!

  • I messed up on my question about where to buy an r/c old timer slow flyer at so here i go again?

  • @CorsairPacific go to RCGroups, then to forums, then go to the "Exotic and Special interest" section, and then you will see a thread on "Vintage and Oldtimer designs". There you will find guys who will link you to plans, kits, engines, and even a few ARF`s (Almost Ready to Fly) out there. Lots of used stuff for sale out there to on RCGroups, RCUniverse, RCCanada ect. Go ahead and get on RCGroups, you will be glad you did.

  • @CorsairPacific Thank you for the info about old-timers, i love to build but i'm no good on landing a screamer, i always pass my radio to a friend. I get much more pleasure relaxing with an old timer with lots of dihedral. It gives me the time i need to respond. I really appreciate you taking the time out to respond and all of the good info you gave me, Regards, Larry

  • Lovely slow flying and landing well done

  • Do I want to find an '80s Enya .29 or have folks standardized on a newer engine for competing with these birds? I have plans for a 1938 Scientific Commodore (72" span.) Thought about 7-cell but don't think it could ever be light enough to compete. Please opine. Your birds look wonderful in that oil painting sky.

  • Nice landing. The one with yellow wings looks like a Quaker. I used to fly RC Old Timers myself. I had a Quaker and a Powderhouse. Both good flyers. I used a 2 stroke OC 35 on both with 4 channel Airtronics radio.
