We are using client(iPhone) hardware for some limited purposes. It includes affine transform and dynamic range conversion. The original data can be more than multi gigabytes, so it cannot be transferred to iPhone. Also, the volume rendering is too heavy processing for mobile devices. The original 3D volume data is rendered to 2D image on the server, then 2D is sent to iPhone where some 2D-only processing is performed.

amazing system, is there any client-level rendering? (on the iphone) it has a great built-in grapics processor. or can it even be done? (to much data for the iphone to handle?)
