Norway has just hosted a meeting of the International Contact Group for Somalia to discuss the political process, security situation and desperate humanitarian conditions in the country which has endured 17 years of chaos and civil war. Jeffrey Gettleman, the East Africa bureau chief of The New York Times, and John Prendergast, the co-chair of the Enough Project which seeks sustainable solutions to on-going crises in Africa, join Riz Khan to discuss this volatile region of the Horn of Africa.

  • I believe that Jeffrey Gettleman has said it all.

That the UIC have given the somali people what they were crying out for the last 17 years and that is peace and the rule of law.

However the United states robbed the little hope that the people of somalia had, and they immediately accused the UIC of being Al qaeda.

Even though the people who bombed the US embassy in Kenya, Tanzania were not even somalis.

  • So why are the somali people being accused and punished of by the US government of crimes that no somali has commited.
