The Grass Roots perform "Mamacita" August 6, 2010 at Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Park in Oyster Bay, Long Island, NY.
This was the replacement Grass Roots show for the partial rainout from 2009 (see our videos from that show). During the soundcheck, we wondered who the new guy was playing bass, it certainly was not Rob Grill.
After the show, a quick internet search found the answer. Rob Grill took ill the end of July, about one week before this show. Mark Dawson joined the tour to fill in for Rob, as he did in 2008.
While we miss the beloved Rob Grill, one has to be impressed with this performance. Mark joined the tour at a moments notice, and the group did not miss a beat. Mark's voice is terrific and he certainly can play that bass. The band was tight and never sounded better.
Enjoy!

Without Rob Grill, the Grass Roots are dead. They are now just another cover band. They were great for many years. Things change!
