The Junkie Diaries-part 7

I was going to call this the 'homeless diaries' until I actually went out and spoke to the people living on the streets of dublin. then it was renamed the 'junkie diaries' because the overwhelming thing i found out was that (in the group I spoke to) they were almost exclusively hard drug users or at least drug dependent in some respect.

The people I spoke to were varied, some were from very good backgrounds, others never had a fighting chance to begin with. There were some common feelings throughout, primarily of despair, of fear of violence and physical attack, without exception every person I spoke to was able to describe their personal situation with alacrity and precision. I asked if any of them had spoken into a camera in their time being homeless, they all said no, and some of them have been on the street for over a decade. I suppose it doesn't make for good tv.

This is part of an ongoing project where I plan to look at the economics of drug use and of drug prohibition in a practical sense via the people who use drugs and eventually, those who distribute them.

@neenieweeny I told them what I was doing and that it was just my own project to take a look at their lives beyond the bit people see as they walk past them, so the agreement was verbal but it was and still is an agreement.

i was talking to Cirian (the lad with the tin whistle) last night hes currently staying in the shelter i work in hes not one bit happy that these videos are up here he claims you lied to him about the videos being made available on youtube and that you claimed they were for a collage project hes freaking out that if he has to go for job interviews people will have seen them....he would like them removed. contact me on my account if you would like more information

Thank you so much for making this, for me personally it really helped to put a face to the homeless in this town. It's given me more understanding which will help me to be more sympathetic and compassionate. I've always given respect when refusing them charity, as I do anyone but from now on I'll try to give more charity, thanks to you. Good job, respect

Junkie is a very offensive term. The "project" was homelessness and most of your questions revolve around that topic so rather than offend people you should've stuck with your original title.
