  • Vergil's Aeneid was something that really inspired Frank Wedekind, the author of the original play version of Spring Awakening. You can find multiple allusions to it in the musical, but even more if you read the play.

    Thought you'd like to know!

  • One of my favorites from this musical along with Don't Do Sadness. Thank you!:)

  • A good quality!!!!!!!!

  • Thumbs up if you can understand (a bit) the Latin spoken words! =D

  • @Musicalfreaky93 I believe that's the directing choice. The boys kind of sound like they're mindless zombies who don't ask questions. It really highlights Melchior's voice because he's the one who wants to ask questions.

  • MAJOR, MAJOR GREAT VERSION.

  • @Musicalfreaky93

    they are reciting latin... :|

  • boah...the boys sound soo bored... omg....sry..but the broday version is not so great than the version from vienna...they are rockin´;) sry..but thats my opinon...

in this version they sound like if they will fall asleep..

  • THANK YOU! Now i cn impress my future husband Jonathan Groff with my mad singing skills!

  • "I sing of arms and the man, who first came from the shores of Troy, (came)* to Italy and the Lavinian shores, exiled by fate. He was tossed much by both land and sea, by the force of the gods, because of the mindful anger of cruel Juno. Also, he suffered much even from war, until he would found a city..."

[ *=implied text, not in literal translation]

Source: We're translating the Aeneid in my honours Latin class.

The use of this poem within the play is genius. (: Thanks so much for uploading!
