i have a 20 month old gsd and they really start obeying at around 18 months before that they might be a little slow or not respond. u can always train ur dog new tricks and its never to late to train them. they will really be fully mature at around 3years of age

Its never too late to train a dog. I trained my Golden Retriever from puppyhood until about 3 or 4, then I bought horses and began focusing on horse training. After many years in that area I have gone back into her training, her being almost 10 years old. I have began agility training and a bit of schutzhund. I have taught her to heel a couple years ago, but not consistently. since starting her training 2 weeks ago, she is now obeying commands perfectly from a distance. Its never too late! :)

you should only bathe a gsd like twice a year because it is really easy to dry out their coats and if our worried about them smelling brushing them well daily really helps

put him on a 20ft line, then give him the command to come, gently pull him toward you ( it helps if u have a treat). start slow and train as much as u can. good luck

how many times should you bath a german shepherd?

My GSD is about 1 years old, she has the basic commands but at times I have to call her more than once, is it too late for me to train her completely ? any advice for an older dog ?

once the dog gets to understand that u r his pack leader, he'll do everything to obey you.. he'll try to please u at all costs.. but you should properly teach him how to please u thats all..
What about when they wont obey you. What do you do?

Be pack leader, make sure you show no tension in your body langauge and project a calm assertive behaviour, when your dog thinks there is no pack leader he will take over and just do what he wants, be the boss keep on with the training and you should have a balanced submissive dog, rewards will help your dog relise being good has its benefits.
Good luck.

helpful tips thanks. I agree with voice training due to the fact its what you will always have with you. Toys, treats and clickers wont always be on hand.
