Why didn't the AWA let Robinson become the AWA World Champion? Were they afraid that Robinson would try to Shoot and hurt a challenger if he refused to lose and drop the belt when needed? Or were they afraid that Robinson would've been too stubborn to control? I thought he was a huge draw for the organization.

great to see a match with the trainer of the great Kazushi Sakuraba.

Interesting insights into the history of pro wrestling. The Mike DiBiase he mentioned must have been The Million Dollar Man's father. Funny he admits how much Gorgeous George put wrestling on the map but yet dislikes what he did. Interesting too that this commentary was in the days when pro wrestlers wouldn't say that it was scripted. He wouldn't say the biggest difference from the amateurs isn't submissions but that the amateurs is actually wrestling.

I have heard of Billy But never saw him Wrestle. Been a Wrestling fan over 35 years.
I love it. These Classic Matches narrated by Greg are some of my favorites.

Neither man to be taken lightly

To tkabat1983:
Yes. The story is true. Iron Sheik confirmed it as well. Robinson got roughed up when he tried to shoot on Pete Maivia as well. Billy never fared well when he tried his stuff on a good amateur wrestler.

great transitions in the grappling between holds locks

that's flair's story...robinson used to line up the sheik, gagne, flair, and would save ken patera for last and beat all of them...he was the best technical submission wrestler gagne ever encountered...why do you think gagne asked him to train the wrestlers. also what is not mentioned is that robinson would do all the bumps and conditioning with them and then wrestle them all...flair doesn't mention any of that.

This is great, with the historical commentary by Gagne and his son
Now this is professional wrestling, not today's sports entertainment crap.
