If you play the first part of Shadow of Doubt from the Escaflowne OST at the same time with this trailer, it makes it so much more epic. Oh and if you like badass anime artwork, watch the movie, if you like more plot etc, watch the show... if you like both, watch them both.

That's a pretty stupid thing for you to believe considering Shoji Kawamori along with Sunrise were the ones who created the original concept of Escaflowne and they were the ones who commissioned for the manga to be created once production of the anime had already begun.

The series is the one being the most correct, in accordance to the manga, I believe.
But the movie is awesome nonetheless.

If you've never seen the series, watch the movie, but DON'T judge the series based on the movie, okay? They're very different. The only thing that's remotely the same are the main characters and the relationships between them... but even those are still almost totally different. Watch both, but I prefer the series way more. It's deep.

The movie is a retelling of the series, the series compressed into a movie with a few added extras. In some ways the movie is better, in others the series is.

Sort of, think of it as a retelling. The series and the movie are both great. Each has things that make it better then the other.
